March Is Here

March is here and spring is in the air! During this month you will find great opportunities for fellowship, ministry and worship.

We start the month with the UMW Spaghetti Luncheon Fundraiser on March 4. Following the 11:00am service everyone will gather in the fellowship hall to eat. Everyone is invited to attend. All money raised will be given to local charities.

March 8 is International Women's Day. The first Women's Day Celebration in the U.S. was celebrated back in 1908 when a group of 15,000 women marched on the streets of New York, demanding their rights. The official color for IWD is purple - so wear a purple shirt or ribbon on March 8!

Don't forget to set your clock forward one hour on March 11 for Daylight Savings.

On March 14 the UMM will be serving corned beef and cabbage at the Wednesday Night Supper. UMM are hosting the event. Be sure to join us!

St. Patrick's Day is March 17 and you know what that means...wear green or face the consequences. Did you know that St. Patrick was not Irish? It's true. He was born in England. He gained the title of Patron Saint of Ireland based on his actions, not his birthplace.

The first day of Spring is March 20. This past weekend I saw the bright yellow of forsythia, beautiful pick blossoms from flowering cherry trees, and Bradford pear trees covered in blooms of white. Daffodils are everywhere and tulips soon will follow.

Palm Sunday falls on March 25. Chapelwood will enjoy the music of the Chancel Choir as they present the Easter Cantata during the worship service at 11:00am.

The second Wednesday Night Supper of the month will be held on March 28. Steak and gravy is on the menu. The Lost

Maundy Thursday is March 29. Join us at 7:00pm for a Tenebrae Service. An All Night Prayer Vigil will begin following the service. Sign up for a time of vigil on the board in the Gathering Room.

Princeton UMC has invited us to attend their Good Friday service on March 30 at 7:00pm.

Chapelwood's Annual Easter Egg Hunt is scheduled for March 31 at 2:00pm. Volunteers are needed as well as donations to fill the eggs.
